Families are always welcome at North!
North Dover has a long history of strong family involvement and community partnerships. We are always looking for ways to have our families become as involved as they can be with our school community. Research shows that students with involved families perform better not just in elementary school, but as they move toward graduation as well.
There are LOTS of ways to get involved here at North Dover. Some of the opportunities we have and are working on this year include:
-
Classroom help- contact your child's teacher for specific ways you can help out in the room
-
Accelerated Reader- assist students with logging in to take tests, read with students, or review and work on sight word practice with our K-1 kiddos
-
Outdoor learning space development- we can use supplies and expertise in several areas including gardening and construction
-
Attend PTO meetings- second Wednesday of every month at 5:30pm
-
Complete the School Climate Survey when it becomes available
-
Facebook- Like & follow our page for announcements, updates, fun stuff and pictures of our awesome students doing awesome things
-
Attend school and district events- there are LOTS to choose from, including Family Literacy Night, Math Night, Family Fitness Night, athletic events at the high school, Super Senator Day, homecoming parade, PTO sponsored dances, and many more
-
Complete our Volunteer Interests & Skills Survey (coming soon)
The most important thing you can do to be involved doesn’t even require you to be at school. TALKING to your student about their day, asking questions, reading with or to them, having them explain something they learned, helping with homework or just listening while they explain it to you are all ways you can be involved in your student’s education here at North Dover.
We are partners in this task of education and North Dover values and encourages families to do what they can, when they can. And we thank you for everything you do to support your student!
Do you have ideas for other ways you could get involved??? Let us know! J
