North Dover Elementary is a PBS school and will be using a Positive Behavior Support system to help students develop positive relationships, learn to resolve conflicts in a proactive fashion, and encourage effective work habits. This schoolwide program will be used in all settings and classrooms and will support the district expectations in the Student Success Guide.
Our program focus includes:
- I CARE Expectations
- Caring
- Accepting
- Responsible
- Engaged
- Support programs include:
- Counseling
- Health & safety
- Conflict resolution
- Peer leadership
- Mindfulness and self regulation
Each classroom teacher reviews the schoolwide expectations with students throughout the year and uses a ticket system to reinforce desired habits. A management chart is used to assist the teacher and the students in monitoring their behavior throughout the day. Students are encouraged to think about their behaviors and make changes throughout the day to ensure they are staying in the acceptable range. Parents will receive communications regarding the positive choices their students are making, as well as areas in which we will be working with them to make improvements.
